Event drone filming
The experience of your event, from the air
Drone filming for events
Capturing an event from the air shows the scale and atmosphere you miss from the ground: the grounds full of visitors, the build-up in timelapse, the finish line from above. Drone Chiefs makes drone and FPV footage for event organisers, agencies, sports organisations and brands. Among other things, we filmed at an event venue at Circuit Zandvoort. For Winter Efteling we carried out the drone flights together with De Vliegende Cameraman, after sunset and outside daylight hours. That brought the illuminated buildings and attractions into view from the air.
What we film at events
From the first build day to the aftermovie: aerial footage is useful at every stage.
• Aftermovies and promo videos for the next edition
• Overview shots of the grounds for sponsors and partners
• Indoor FPV footage, such as in halls, trade fairs and arenas
• Sports matches, motorsport and outdoor events
• Build-up and breakdown for the organisation and suppliers
Flying near crowds: safety first
Events come with strict rules. In the Open category you may not fly over groups of people. Filming near an audience therefore requires a flight in the Specific category, with a risk assessment and a flight plan that takes visitors, stages and escape routes into account.
Drone Chiefs holds its own Operational Authorisation from the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT). We coordinate the flight with the organisers and the safety coordinator, and check whether temporary airspace restrictions apply around the event.

Frequently asked questions about event drone filming
Can a drone fly over an audience?
Not over groups of people in the Open category. With a Specific authorisation and a solid risk assessment more is possible, but safety always decides where and how we fly.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as possible, ideally a few weeks. That leaves time for flight preparation, coordination with the organisers and any permission from air traffic control.
Can you also film in the evening?
Yes. For Winter Efteling we flew after sunset, outside daylight hours. Evening flights need extra preparation, such as an adjusted risk assessment and, where needed, notifying air traffic control.
Can you also film indoors during a trade fair?
Yes. With small FPV drones we film indoors, in consultation with the organisers and away from the busiest moments.
Get in touch for a no-obligation quote
Feel free to get in touch for a no-obligation quote for aerial filming, FPV footage or a full video production.
Include the location of your project with your request. That way we can check straight away which airspace it falls in and whether extra permits or flight preparation are needed. Based on that we give you a clear quote. Productions start from €750.
It also helps to briefly describe the project and whether you only need aerial footage or a complete production including editing. Think corporate films, commercials, FPV footage or social media content.
That way we can think along quickly and send you a quote that fits your plans and your production.
