Indoor drone filming
Smooth crane shots and fluid flights through your building
Indoor drone filming: shooting inside with a drone
A drone isn't just for outdoors. Indoors, a drone gives you movement and overview that a regular camera only achieves with sliders, jibs and lots of setup time. Drone Chiefs makes indoor drone footage in commercial buildings, production halls, greenhouses, offices and event venues. We have filmed packaging lines and horticultural greenhouses, sim racing events, offices and showrooms, among others. For smooth, cinematic shots we fly the DJI Mavic 4 Pro. If you really want to fly through a location, we use an FPV drone. Looking for a complete film? Have a look at our corporate video with drone footage.
Why the Mavic 4 Pro is perfect indoors
The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is compact, quiet and very precise to control. That makes it ideal for indoor filming.
• Smooth crane shots: slowly rising, descending or gliding over a production line
• No setup time for sliders, jibs or tripods: we move quickly from room to room
• Top shots straight down, for example over a workstation or packaging line
• High image quality, even under artificial light in halls and greenhouses
• Small size, so also suitable for spaces with people and machinery
That way you get lots of different shots in a single shoot day, without halting production.
FPV: really flying through your location
Besides the Mavic we often use an FPV drone for indoor filming. FPV isn't a crane shot: it shows a location by actually flying through it, forwards or backwards, through doors, corridors and past machinery.
• Showroom and office tours in one fluid flight
• Factories, greenhouses and distribution centres from inside to outside
• Event venues and sim racing events full of movement
• Ideal as the opening or common thread of a corporate video
Indoor flying doesn't fall under the aviation rules for outdoors, but safety always comes first: we fly in consultation with the venue and keep our distance from people and machinery.

Frequently asked questions about indoor drone filming
Can you fly a drone indoors?
Yes. Indoors the outdoor aviation rules don't apply, but you do need permission from the building owner. We agree in advance where we fly and take people, machinery and safety into account.
When do you choose the Mavic and when FPV?
We use the Mavic 4 Pro for smooth, cinematic shots such as crane shots and top shots. We use FPV when you really want to fly through a location.
Does production have to stop during filming?
Usually not. Because we work quickly and need little setup time, we can often film while work carries on as normal.
Get in touch for a no-obligation quote
Feel free to get in touch for a no-obligation quote for aerial filming, FPV footage or a full video production.
Include the location of your project with your request. That way we can check straight away which airspace it falls in and whether extra permits or flight preparation are needed. Based on that we give you a clear quote. Productions start from €750.
It also helps to briefly describe the project and whether you only need aerial footage or a complete production including editing. Think corporate films, commercials, FPV footage or social media content.
That way we can think along quickly and send you a quote that fits your plans and your production.
